Dear Friends in Dhamma,
Lankarama Temple warmly invites you to join the Lankarama Katina Ceremony, which will begin on Friday 10th at 7 pm with Pirith Chanting and Saturday, 11th October, with Katina Puja marking the conclusion of the Three-Month Rains Retreat (Vassana Season).
The Rains Retreat began with the Vas Aradhana, when the SLBVA President extended the formal invitation to our venerable Bhantes on Esala Sil Day to observe the retreat at Lankarama Temple, continuing the long-standing Buddhist tradition.
The Katina Ceremony signifies the end of this sacred retreat. During this auspicious occasion, devotees offer new robes (Katina Cheewara) to the Maha Sangha, expressing gratitude for their spiritual guidance and dedication. Both the Vas Aradhana and Katina ceremonies embody the profound bond of mutual support between the lay community and the Maha Sangha.
This is one of the most meritorious events in the Buddhist calendar, a time of celebration, merit, and community spirit.
