Rev. Keenagoda Ananda Thero
Reverend Keenagoda Ananda Thero has been serving the Sydney Buddhist community with dedication and compassion for the past three years. He was ordained as a novice monk on 11 October 1998 and completed his monastic training leading to higher ordination, which he received on 25 May 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Kelaniya. Before coming to Australia, Reverend Thero offered devoted and selfless service to thousands of devotees at the Saranath Buddhist Centre in Gangodavila, Sri Lanka.
In 2023, he became the resident Bhante at the Lankarama Buddhist Temple in Sydney. Since then, he has played a vital role in nurturing the spiritual life of the community by conducting monthly Sil programs, regular meditation sessions, and daily religious activities, including Buddha Pooja, Bodhi Pooja, Pirith chanting, blessings, Dhamma sermons, and Dhamma discussions. He also actively participates in major religious events such as Vesak and Katina celebrations.
With his deep knowledge of Buddhist history, culture, and literature, Reverend Keenagoda Ananda Thero continues to be a valued spiritual guide and a respected leader within the Sydney Buddhist community.
